Tall Ships Races Organisers Confident Shetland can offer Excellent Cruise in Company

This weekend (Sunday 8th February), The Tall Ships Races Organisers met with representatives of the Shetland Marinas’, Piers and Boating Club Association.

The purpose of this meeting was to find out which areas around Shetland may be interested in taking part as a guest port in the Cruise In Company, which will take place between 12-21July 2011.

The Cruise in Company is a non-competitive leg of the Races and will give Ships the opportunity to explore the area between Greenock and Lerwick before their arrival on 21st July.

The Cruise in Company is an important part of the Races and Organisers hope to offer an exciting route to Captain’s that can be marketed on this summer’s Tall Ships Race circuit.

Shetland Tall Ships 2011 Ltd, Project Manager, Fiona Dally “ was encouraged with the turnout at the meeting despite the weather conditions and urged representatives from the Association who had not been able to make the meeting to get in touch before Thursday 12th February if their area was interested in being considered as a guest port in the Cruise in Company.”
